About
Marcelo is a Postdoctoral Researcher working in the NIST labs. He received a B.Sc. in Physics at McGill University, a M.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta, and a Ph.D. in Physics at the University of Calgary where his graduate research was supported by a NSERC CGS Doctoral scholarship. His doctoral research focused on the design, fabrication, and characterization of a torsional optomechanical photonic crystal cavity used for sensing the magnetization of a magnetic sample patterned on the device. Marcelo is working on new piezo-optomechanical transduction methods and devices for on-chip frequency conversion between microwave and optical regimes.
Research Areas:
- Integrated photonics design/fab/test
- Nanoscale electro-optomechanical transducers
